Shaklee intends to oversee the purchasing and installation of solar energy to provide decentralized electrification to the Millenium Villages that Dr. Jeff Sachs is doing so much to develop. I want to commend you for Shaklee’s recent pledge to become “climate neutral” as a part of the Climate Neutral Network’s program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

By joining the growing ranks of corporations that have announced specific greenhouse gas reduction goals, Shaklee is helping to meet what I believe is the greatest environmental challenge of this century. Your use of more energy-efficient equipment, combined heat and power technologies, and renewable energy sources will serve as an example to other companies – and to nations around the world – that we can take steps to address this challenge in a way that is good for our environment and our economies.

You have my heartfelt appreciation for your participation in this program, and I want to assure you that my Administration remains committed to working with the business community to meet the challenge of global climate change.
